Noooo: correct for Nashville, but Chattanooga is a 6-7 hour drive from
Memphis, and if you're going across on Hwy 64 probably add another hour.

Then how about this:
- Mammoth Cave - Nashville - Chattanooga (Lookout Mountain for sure;
it's Civil War AND a mountain, and an excellent view of the city)
- then down the interstates through Alabama to Gulf Shores, which is a
much prettier beach than Biloxi although no casinos as in Biloxi. The
Confederate White House is at Montgomery on the way and Bellingrath
Gardens (plantation house and gardens) are across the bay from Gulf
Shores (take the ferry).
- Over to New Orleans - then up Hwy 61 through Louisiana - Natchez -
Vicksburg - Memphis. Make Tupelo a day trip from Memphis (90 minute
drive each way). Alternatively, you could take the Natchez Trace to
Tupelo part of that way, and then go over to Memphis from Tupelo. Or in
reverse, make Chattanooga the side trip and take the Trace SOUTH from
Nashville to I-55 on your way to Biloxi. (It will make sense looking at
a map.) Driving the Trace all the way from Natchez to Tupelo would be a
bit much (50 mph limit).
