If he's a competant driver in the UK he shouldn't have too much trouble with
US roads.
The only problem I encountered was with the 4 way stop. I didn't have a
single clue what to do. I must have went through a couple of dozen of them
and my passenger told me I'd gotten it wrong every single time!

Apart from that it's getting used to the auto transmission he'll likely be
lumbered with.. and of course the big one, driving on the wrong side.
Not just the wrong side of the road, which I fould reasonably easy to grasp,
but the wrong side of the car too. When driving in the UK it's subconcious
to keep 'yourself' positioned right of centre as you are sitting on the
right hand side of the car and so most of the car is on the left. Of course
in the USA it's the opposite, especially on dual carriageways I found it
tricky to get used to being on the other side of the car! But I was fine
after a couple of drives.
