not surprising, since a lot of it is swamp or wide braided river
valleys, and there are no roads to get there or any major ports.
this area is the delta of the yukon and kuskokwin rivers and the
areas upriver for about 300 miles.

most of the folks that live there are yup'ik eskimos who depend
on subsistence fishing and hunting.
