Perhaps then you should head for the lakes -- and don't forget
mosquito repellent:) I like the drive down the Mississippi to
La Crosse, where I grew up. But would it interest kids? When I
was a kid I loved the steamboat excusions on the Mississippi.
I also liked climbing the bluffs that border the river and
walking in the woods -- if there are any woods left to walk
in, I don't know. Going to a lake, renting a cottage and
rowing around in a boat can be fun. Trying a bit of fishing.
That's what most people do for summer vacations in Minnesota.
