If doing NJ Turnpike, forget GW Bridge and NYC area. Get off Turnpike to
287 north to NYS Thruway, 287 east or 87 south to Tappan Zee Bridge....stay
on 287 east to 684 north to 84 east to Hartford, then 91 north.

Alternate: 287 N off NJ Turnpike to 87 (NYS Thruway) north to 84 east then
as above.

If you want inland route through PA, to to Harrisburg (83 north?) to 81
north to 84 east. That gets you off 81 before Harrisburg. Although
construction in Scranton is finished...but my last time through there was
construction just north of Harrisburg.

Pennsylvania: the Road Construction State.
