We drove from LA to Virginia last Fall the first week of November, and took
I-10 because it is more southerly than I-40, which passes through Flagstaff.
There was a pretty substantial snowstorm just then that closed down parts of
I-40 just outside Flagstaff. It's a little unpredictable, but it can be
nasty in Flagstaff in early November (or beautiful). Take your chances, the
place is worth seeing, but be prepared to hunker down if the weather does
turn.
