I think they made it up. The words in the song are, "In the
Florida Keys, there's a place called Kokomo....." I live in Florida and
have spent quite a bit of time in the Keys, and, so far as I know there is
no Kokomo in the Keys (though I think there may be a bar by that name,
possible in Key West?)
