You don't need to think of Utah as remote. I did until my brother moved
there, and having been there numerous times, I like it. SLC is a large,
booming city, with some really cool neighborhoods and lots of fun things to
do. It ain't New York or LA, but few places are. It's the kind of place a
lot of Californians have moved to after getting tired of life in the fast
lane. Ignore the religious base there, and you'll get the classic US
experience. And if you have any interest in outdoors stuff (froming skiing
to rollerblading, biking, etc.) its fantastic!
So just prepare to enjoy yourself ;-)
