In fact, for more expensive/longer rentals, sometimes it will pay to
pick up the car at a rental agency somewhere outside the airport
grounds at a city rental office (take a cab, walk, etc.). You can
usually save 10-20% this way. Bear in mind that if you take a
rental-agency supplied shuttle bus from the airport to an off-airport
location, usually you'll have to pay the surchage as the agency has to
pay for the privilege of airport access.
