I have read over your criteria and have concluded that Austin Texas is NOT
the place for you to live. No matter what the New York Times and many other
magazines say it is not all that great of a place. The summers are hot and
humid, traffic is getting worse by the minute, and a city wide vote was 52
to 48 % in favor of a smoking ban in all public places including clubs and
bars. City taxes(and school) are 8.25% and may go up. Housing is becoming
rediculously expensive and big box stores are being built on every
intersection. Definitely do not move to Austin and tell any friends that may
be contemplating such to also stay away.
