Subject: No refund for cancellation well in advance? Posted on: Mon, 30 May 2005 19:42:12 +0000 (UTC)

I booked at a Canadian hotel through their "Best Rate" on their
website. I cancelled less than 24 hours later as I decided on a
different destination. When I confirmed with the hotel, they informed
me that the hotel charge was non-refundable. The hotel's listed policy
on the website is 2 days cancellation notice, but not for the "special
rate" booking I made.

There was no warning of this when I cancelled. I can't remember the
fine print when I booked.

What is my recourse here? I find this really unfair. I mean, why
cancel the room if I am not eligible for anything?

I used AMEX and I am wondering if anybody else has gone through
something similar and what the chances of getting my money back are?
