It is not considered at all tacky at the wide range
of restaurants I eat at in New York City. We always
share -- order usually an appetizer, an entree and a
dessert. Depends on the restaurant, portion size and
so forth. Last night we ate Thai and 2 of us ordered
three dishes. They were large and we took a bit home
with us. We always tip well so the waitperson doesn't
get shorted. Eating Thai and Chinese is always best with
several people in the party as you can then sample a lot
of dishes without overordering. But we have split steaks
and many other items. If a restaurant didn't like this, I'd
just leave and avoid it. Thankfully, we have thousands to
choose from. |
