You have got to be kidding! IP addresses can be spoofed, just as email
addresses can. Even if the OP did book the hotel room from an IP
address
that can be traced back to his home, there is no way the hotel or an
investigator can prove that the OP actually booked the room. The OP
could claim that a friend, relative, the maid, or anyone else who has
access to the OP's house could have booked that room>>>>>

yes they can be faked, but not by people who dont know how to do
it....any anyone silly enuff to ignore fine print, is nto exactly a
prime candidate for faking IP's....I work about 25 to 35 of these
situations a year, and have never once had a person weasel their way
out of it....granted 90% of the time it is . sites that hire us to
prove the fraud, but the hotels use other companys witha similar
success rate I am sure......

p.s- the friend, relative, or maid would then be in trouble for using a
persons card without their consent....
