We share things frequently and in various ways. I seem to vaguely
recall that perhaps one restaurant once charged us a sharing charge,
although the notice has been on the menu many times without being
charged. I've always assumed that's because we order many dishes,
so the staff is satisfied with our order.

Of course, as stated elsewhere, it's unusual for portion size to
be an issue in a good restaurant. The "giant portion" places seem
to be catering to people who don't really care what's on their
plate, as long as there's lots of it. Unfortunately, sometimes
when traveling, it can be hard to avoid poor or mediocre restaurants
of this type.

Regarding other remarks here, it is unusual for us to go to a "good"
restaurant and see any extra seats.
