If you don't mind staying in neighboring Cambridge, I'd recommend "A
Friendly Inn" on Cambridge Street. Although I have not stayed here
personally, we had a client stay here a while back and he really liked
it. It's in your price range and within walking distance to Harvard
Square (easy access on subway/buses to Boston).
