I could almost always get a campsite if arriving before noon, but
arriving "late" on a Sunday is risky. But then again in most years the
tourist traffic doesn't really explode under early July so who knows?
What I used to do when arriving "late" was simply stop at one of the
National Forest campgrounds outside Y-stone the night before and then
get an early jump on it the next morning, this is probably the safest.
