It's not the island so much that's "touristy," it's Honolulu and
specifically Waikiki. Of course, you're going to run into tourists where
ever you go, since you're going to be "touring" the "tourist" sights
yourself. But once you get away from the city, the annoying Hawaii
tourist crowds diminishes significantly.
