Europe has the good fortune to have good local transport once you
get somewhere via TGV or ICE or whatever. Once you get to Los
Angeles there you are in downtown Los Angeles with a lousy
transit system facing you. If your destination is downtown Los
Angeles, good and well, but if your destination is Long Beach you
might as well have driven down from SF. Or taken a plane, whihc I
suspect would be cheaper and faster than even a high speed train.
