The south end of Lake Huron is nowhere near as nice as going north of Toronto.
The southern part is mostly agricultural. There are some nice beaches further
north on Lake Huron and Georgian Bay is nice and the Bruce Peninsula that
separates Georgian Bay from Lake Huron is quite scenic. You can take a ferry
over to Manitoulin Island. There is an interesting recreation of the French
mission Ste.Marie Among the Huron near Midland. The drive along the east side
of Georgian Bay is also quite scenic. Kilarney Provincial Park is at the north
end of the Bay. Then you can head east to Algonquin Park which has lots of
camping sites. You may want to check the provincial parks web site to make
reservations because there are limited spaces and reservations are usually
required. Algonquin park is a great spot for camping. There are lots of lakes,
hiking trails, a museum. You might want to stick to a campsite that has a store
because there are very few stores in the park. You can rent a canoe and explore
some of the lakes.
