There is the bus which goes back and forth along that drive (I believe you
have to use the bus now; no cars); best to check if that will take
wheelchairs? If it does (or if mother can walk a bit) you could get to most
of the look-out points.

I've read that too and I'm amazed. I spent two days there and could easily
have spent longer (tho possibly not without taking a trek down at least some
way into the Canyon and doing a helicopter flight).
An awful lot of people must just want to 'tick' the Grand Canyon and move on
(the same people who 'do' Europe in 10 days I suppose).
