Interesting that YOU think DeGaulle was involved at all !
While he was leader of the provisional govt during the war during
which time he was responsible for the French attempt to hold
IndoChina he did not of course talk to Ike as Truman was the
President at that time
De Gaulle left office in 1946 and wasn't elected as President of France
until 1958
when he came to power as the result of the calamitous policies of
the Fourth republic in IndoChina and Algeria.
This was years AFTER the french had withdrawn and after Ike sent 'advisors'
to Vietnam
At this time De Gaulle did NOT approve of US involvement
in Vietnam and publically called for the withdrawal
of ALL foreign troops including those from the USA.
