Depend on how much time you have to spend. Jasper is a good place to start
from for daily trips or hikes into the area. As for Jasper itself.. tipical
tourist town.
I suggest to pick either Banff (stay in Canmore which is less crowded) of
Jasper and drive the Icefield Parkway. and stay in Bannf or Jasper for a few
days for some trips. The icefields parkway is a great way to see the scenery
between the town.
Be sure to visit Lake Morraine if you also go to Lake Louise, if you like
the view at Lake Louise, you will love the Morraine Lake area.
Short hikes can be done at several places along the route and towns.
