I am travelling to Boston In Mid Sept and would like some advice please
on the best way to see "Classic" New England by car in the short space
of four days.

Could anyone recomend an itinery of either day trips froms Boston, or
(preferably) a round 4-day trip?

We would like see some of the quitessential NE villages, foiliage
(although we may be too early) etc. I like the sound of Central
Vermont, but dont know if that would be too far.

Any wisdom would be appreciated.
