You gotta' like old historic homes.
Read about the history of the city and its founding.
Suggestions;
First thing you do; take one of the trolley tours around the town (there
are 3 companies I think - 1 is probably as good as another) Don't buy
the additional "on and off" supplement - you won't need it. Buy their
discount coupons for visiting the historic properties - as many as you
are interested in - it is much cheaper that way. We got 4 free ones
with our tour and I let my wife use all four while I photographed the
neighbourhoods. [ http://tinyurl.com/3le2j ]
If you want a really fine dining try Elizabeth on 37th
[ http://www.elizabethon37th.com/ ] - we recommend to stay away from
Lady and Son's - many people rave about it - I found it a noisy, buffet
style place that did not live up to the hype - my wife ordered crab
cakes that were tasteless and greasy - not what we expected.
Maybe we hit a really bad day.
Do a lot of walking through the Historic District.
Stroll along the waterfront shops...
Visit the cemeteries, Bonaventure Cemetery, or take a cemetery tour.
There is an interesting Naval Museum if that interests you.
Oh, yeah, DON'T stay at the Best Western.
Enjoy...
