I think you should read the reviews of those who have stayed there.
As you might imagine (or not if you don't know the NY city hotel
market) this price will not bring you more than a bed. But the
reviews from the Carter seem to indicate, overall, that one would
be far from happy there.
A bit of history: The Carter is an old hotel that fell into disrepair
and during the peak of NYC's homeless crisis was used by the city to
house many homeless. Now it seems to have reverted to commercial use
and was "renovated" although the reviews below make that word
problematical.
