Mt. Charleston and Red Rock Canyon are two possibilities close to Las
Vegas. Valley of Fire SP a little further away would also be suitable
for day hiking. Great Basin NP and Death Valley NP are further away.
Although not hiking, I enjoy the non-whitewater raft trip below Hoover
Dam for which you can find discount offers in the Las Vegas throw-away
publications.
