George Bush spoke on television earlier this year. He called Cuba a
"terrorist nation" and part of the "axis of evil". The thrust of his
message is that the US is getting tougher on citizens who travel to
Cuba. Fewer permits will be issued to cultural exchange groups or to
Cuban-Americans wishing to visit relatives in Cuba. He also stated that
the coast guard would turn back any boat people arriving at Florida's
shores. Thanks to George Bush, going to Cuba just got tougher. This
has also effected Cuban artists wishing to participate in a cultural
exchange by performing in the US. Visas will not be issued. This has me
pissed as it makes it unlikely that I will get to see certain Cuban jazz
bands in my lifetime.
