In San Francisco, go to the Beach and watch the sunset, Maybe not summer,
when it may very likely be foggy. Try the Beach Chalet at the ocean end of
Golden Gate Park. Was built in the 30's by the CCC and is both interesting
and a nice brewpub, Likewise the Cliff House, at the North end of the Great
Highway. Drive down to Halfmoon Bay / Princeton and take a whale watch
cruise out of Pillar Point Harbor. Try the Hulicat. I think they have a
website. There are a couple of hotels run by the Beresford Group near Union
Square that are semi-reasonable. Beresford Arms, and the Hotel Beresford I
think. An easy walk or bus over to China Town. If the boys are into Pro
Football, go to the St. Francis Grill in the Mission district and see where
the SF 49'ers were formed. Also a nice place to eat. Is in the Hispanic
district, so interesting to walk Mission Blvd. Stop at Dianda's Italian
Bakery between 25th and 26th and sample great pastries. Visit Fisherman's
Wharf, and take a trip over to Marin and the marin headlands as well as
Sausalito.
