Actually followup investigations have shown that most of the mayhem
and violence reported never happened. It was mostly rumors that got
out of control. Even most of the looting never happened. There was one
Walmart that got looted badly after the police broke in to get some
supplies they needed and couldn't find anywhere else. Most of the
other looting was for food and water, committed by people who had been
without either for days.
