I have 2 recommendations, one way less expensive than the other, but have
done both with extended family.
The first, less expensive option, is to rent a lake house. You can find
them all over the country by typing in the area you wish to stay in and
"vacation rentals" in Google. Most sites have a form you can fill out to
say how many people you have and it will kick back a list of places big
enough for you. I've rented 4 bedroom lake camps for between 1000 and 1500
in the lakes region of Maine this way. Select an area that has golf,
museums, or zoos nearby and you have a "homebase" to work from.
The second, which is more expensive, but also much less work, is a family
cruise. Cruise ships have something for everyone, from children's programs,
to educational lectures, to movies, music and amazing entertainment. They
also take you to 2 or 3 or more different places where you can do as much or
as little as you wish. Considering what is included, it really is a great
value for your vacation dollar.
If you come back with more information... a budget, where you are leaving
from, and what areas you are interested in, I am sure the group could be
much more helpful.
