Well, perhaps like me, you carry a tiny folding knife (~1.25 inch
blade) in your change pocket at all times. It's an invaluable tool.

I'd still like to know why they won't allow you to carry a pool cue in
its case on board (or a hockey stick, or any one of many other
unlikely "weapons"). It's hardly as much of a weapon as a metal cane,
which they allow.

I really don't like having to check a cue worth over $5,000,
particularly when the airlines won't take responsibility for its
value.
