The State of Kansas Department of Leading Edge Technology has sent a
study team to Pennsylvania to examine the new weapons technologies
being developed and tested in that state. Said L. Klemmet
Fitzburgerstein, Director of State Research and Development, "if what
we hear about these new weapons pans out, we're going to buy a few
thousand of them to upgrade the weaponry of our National Guard and
Reserves."

State Governor Mary-Belle Blossom, reached at her Leoti Official Autumn
Residence, said that, "such a major procurement might well put
significant strain on the state's budget but we are committed to
ensuring that our people have the brightest and best in all that they
do."

Asked whether Kansas' school graduates would be able to make effective
use of such "star wars" era technology in their business and
recreational activities as well as in state public safety and security,
Governor Blossom said, "I don't know."
