Check into your state's laws on "deceptive trade practices' in Texas =

In regards to extended warranties Here is my experience with RV =
extended warranty from RV Shield/Heritage TPA.
We had the bearings replaced in our previous camper (KZ Coyote) last =
spring then drove to Virginia. I checked hubs each stop as I'm always =
paranoid about bearings and they were fine. Somewhere in the 40 miles =
between the last stop and our night camp one of the bearings failed. It =
made no noise and was not visible from the driver's or passenger's seat. =
When I backed into campsite I saw that the grease had leaked out, cap =
had popped off, and center of hub was discolored from the heat. GoodSam =
roadside insurance towed us to Lancaster Car Care in Christiansburg VA =
where they determined that the axle would have to be replaced. By the =
way, Lancaster did a great job and I would do business with them again =
in a minute. We followed all proper precautions as to not having any =
work done until RV shield approved it. They did everything they could =
to drag out the process. Wouldn't return calls, Passed paperwork from =
office to office where it sat on each desk. Would not let anyone speak =
to a supervisor. (Repair facility says they do this so that customers =
who can't afford to use up their whole vacation sitting in a motel will =
have the work done to get on road then RV Shield can refuse to cover it)
They drug this out from Tues to Friday then at 1:00 on Friday said =
that an adjustor would have to come and see it. Of course the adjustor =
couldn't come till Monday!
On Monday the adjustor came - said damage was due to failure of a =
covered part (the new bearing) Resultant damage due to a covered part is =
supposed to be covered by their policy. They then did nothing until 2 =
minutes before they closed on Monday evening for the day and told me =
that they would only pay $25 for the cost of the bearing since the other =
$1100 in damage was due to the fact that "We operated the bearing in an =
impaired condition as evidenced by the damage that it did to axle and =
brake!" ( I don't know about you but I don't have a light that comes =
on on the dash when a bearing fails and unless there is smoke or noise =
the only thing you can do about bearings is to have them serviced prior =
to trips as we did and frequently check them while on the road as I do.) =
The repair facility manager told them that in all the years of doing =
business he had never seen such dishonest tactics. Their reaction was =
"take it or leave it". Since they are in the Midwest and only answer or =
return calls if they choose to a customer in another part of the country =
is pretty much out of luck.=20

So after dragging this out for a week I finally got $25 for the repair =
and $300 of my $400 motel bill back. Then when I cancelled the policy =
they took that amount from the rebate I was due for the cost of 3 years =
still to go on the policy when I cashed it in and rebated nothing.

Fortunately the dealer I bought the policy from and who did the =
bearing work stood behind their work and paid for the $1100 bill. They =
were so nice about it that I traded in my KZ Coyote with them and bought =
a new 28frls Sydney 5th wheel.=20

Note: Country Creek Campers in Hattiesburg, MS are good people to do =
business with.

Anyway a word of warning about RV Shield/Heritage. Check out =
rip-off.com under auto insurance and draw your own conclusions.=20

I didn't know any better when I bought the extended warranty when we =
bought our Hybrid but I do now.
