Um ... well, I did ask, didn't I? A lot of people more important than I'll
ever pretend to be figured this all out, too, but gee. This means that all
the Holy days that lead up to Easter -- Ash Wednesday, Lent, Good Friday --
are kind of reverse-engineered?
I'm honestly surprised to learn that the Christian world (of which I'm part)
bases something as important as Easter on cycles of the moon. I would have
thought the church to be generally against such things.
Oh well. I really only wondered if it would be safe to visit the beach
communities in Texas around then, not knowing in advance that even Spring
break was designed around phases of the moon rather than calendar dates.
And look at this discussion! Who would have thought?
