That change was announced in fall of 2004 and most hub traffic
has now ceased. However since then 5 discount airlines have
moved in and the net fall in traffic has only been around 10%
which has been somwhat offset by the fact that sales per pax
have increased as people are now spending more time in the
airport.

Indeed but with the low cost and full fare airlines supplying little
or no food it seems that the takeway food stands are doing OK
BAA are still making a nice profit from the operation as are the
local authority who get a nice cut.
