No you won't. Airlines are overbooking, esp to popular destinations
like Vegas or SF.

Airplane fuel is very expensive. You won't save any money this way.
Besides, unless you are very very flexible with your schedule, you'll
end up wasting a lot of time trying to make these arrangements.
