€ Well, I think you are referring to "extreme" decisions like not
€ flying at all. I often choose to not take certain connections because
€ the time is so short that even if I do make the connection, my luggage
€ probably won't. The probability of luggage not arriving with you is
€ not constant. There are situations in which it is more probable.
€
Bad planning results in all sorts of problems, including delayed
baggage. If you plan 30 minute connections (or even 3 hour connections,
depending on the airport/airline/time of day/year, etc), you shouldn't
single out "lost" or delayed luggage as the complaint.

€
€ Again, there is concern, and then there is obsession. If I'm going
€ to a
€ formal wedding, I give it some thought. Cruises are another
€ consideration.
€ If I have important business meetings or a trade show, one should
€ consider
€ these things. If I am transporting something of extreme value, one
€ would
€ be foolish not to have some healthy concern. I've been driving for
€ decades.
€ Accidents are extremely rare in my experience. I still maintain some
€ concern
€ about them however.
