Check-in is required for the train, too. Amtrak requires 30 minutes
check-in time, and all passengers have to go through US immigration
before boarding. Flying is still faster, and flights leave on an almost
hourly basis.

Amtrak also runs more trains between Bellingham and Seattle, and they
operate a shuttle bus from Vancouver down to Bellingham that will
connect with them. But it's still a longer trip than flying.
