Subject: A week in Texas Posted on: Tue, 18 Jul 2006 16:32:12 +0000 (UTC)

My friend is coming to the US for the first time, and apart from the
NYC-Chicago-Niagra Falls stuff, wanted a different kind of trip. I was
also looking for places I haven't been to yet, so we decided on a week
in Texas.
We're both 24, love hiking and outdoors, and yes, we know it's gonna be
hot :-)
What do you think about this trip outline?

25 San Antonio
26 Six Flags Fiesta, to Houston
27 NASA space center, to Pedernales Falls state park
28 Pedernales, to Big Bend
29-31 Big Bend (upper Chisos mountains / South Rim Trail, Santa Elena
Canyon)
1 Amistad National Recreation Area
2 San Antonio

I was also curious about dude ranches, but understood that it's more of
a tourist attraction for families. Do you have any suggestions about
that, or ways to experience serious horseback riding?

Thanks!
Drew
