My wife and I have never been in San Diego before, but are thinking of going
there for a week in mid-November. I have several questions, and thank in
advance anyone who can help:
1. How's the weather in mid-November? Is it crowded? Is this a good time to
visit?
2. What part of town should we stay in? What's near good restaurants and
other tourist attractions?
3.What are some decent but not too expensive hotels to stay in in that area?
We require a clean comfortable room with a private bath in a decent, safe,
convenient location. Luxury is always nice, but not at all necessary. I plan
on bringing a laptop, so a hotel with free internet access (wired or
wireless) would be a definite plus. I know nothing about San Diego prices.
Can we get such a hotel for $100 a night? $120? If we have to spend $150, we
might do so, but probably not much more than that.
4. I used Priceline's "name your own price" for a hotel in Seattle last
year, very successfully. Should I consider it for San Diego? what area(s)
does Priceline's "San Diego" cover and are they places we should like to
stay in? If I should use Priceline, any suggestions for what number of stars
and how much money to bid?
5. We live in southern Arizona and could either drive there or fly. Would a
car be useful or a hindrance once we get there? What's the parking
situation? Would our hotel be likely to have free parking? If most hotels
have parking only for a fee, how much should we expect to pay per day?
6. Any other advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
