Geez larry, why get so personal?
Are you another one who isnt going to go to canada because you cant
have your 45 dollar hotel tax back? Try going on vacation to a
different state in the US and then get pissed cause they wont refund
your state taxes. Tell em in Boston you have no use for the conference
center tax, and so you want that back also.
I think the majority of travelers to canada dont even bother getting
the tax money back, is it like 5 percent, so we arent talkign about a
whole lot of people being effected anyways....I guess I should consider
myself lucky that a 100 bucks here and there while traveling isnt a big
deal.
FWIW, hotel taxes in manhattan are probably higher on average than the
GST that people will lose, and with the exception of a few years
earlier this young millenium, NYC hotels are charging some pretty ncie
rates, and people keep going....
