Not only does every American not know what is the menu for franchise
restaurants, but many Americans avoid franchise restaurants like plague. If
you're visiting the U.S., I'd sincerely recommend you do the same if at all
possible.

It is. Mixed and bar drinks will vary in price depending on the brand of
liquor. However, wine will always be priced on restaurant menus unless you
are ordering something rare and exotic, in which case it may be, "A.Q.," or
"As Quoted."

From the bottom of my heart, I strongly and sincerely advise you to avoid
Applebees. Places like that will only add to a visitor's poor impression of
my country.

Good grief! I can't imagine where you must have been. Fortunately, in a
lifetime of living in this country, I've never found myself so bereft of
options that I was forced to eat in an Applebees.
