If it's made-in-USA, does it matter if you're importing it or not?
From a duty point of view, I think the answer is no, is it not?
Either way, the advice I've always been given when traveling with
anything beyond clothing and beyond the import limit is to carry
receipts or other proof-of-purchase.
I've never been questioned, nor have I bothered carrying receipts,
although I do have electronic copies in my accounting system, which I
can access from my laptop if I really need to.
