I'm posting this on www.tripadivisor.com but thought someone
here might find this useful --
New Years's Eve party at City Walk, Universal Studios, Orlando.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We arrived about 9PM, and after asking, found the poorly-signed
party enterance the promenade. It was behind the movie cineplex,
not one of the main entrances.
Once there, every few feet, were table after table of mounds of
delicious food included in the price (all you can eat), with cash
bars for alcoholic drinks (a $60 pass optional). After filling our
plates to overflowing with shrimp, crab claws, salad, rice+beans,
pastas and hand carved beef, we scored a table at Bob Marley's.
Thirsty, we walked into Pat O'Brien's for a couple of pricy but
great Hurricanes, with entertainment by the dueling pianos, with
plenty of crowd participation. In honor of Orlando's Bowl game,
they treated us to "On Wisconsin," twice. The replica of the New
Orleans courtyard was enticing, but we moved on to Margaritaville
Soft-drinks at the bars were free!
By now it was 11:30, so we headed for Cindy Lauper in concert
with her hits: All Through the Night, Money Changes Everything,
Time After Time and Girls Just Want to Have Fun. It was now
Midnight, cannon loads of confetti was shot out over the crowd.
To close out the night, we loaded up of desserts and went into
the Jazz Club where there was a decent band and folks dancing.
A waitress charged us $3.00 for a small coke. At 1AM, we
made our way out, feeling that, even at $109/person, it was a
good value. Next New Year's, we want to do Pleasure Island.
