Doug and Nile obviously know the city better than I do (I'm from East
Tennessee), but I think the choice of Opryland vs. downtown depends on your
age, interests, etc. The Opryland is in more of a suburban environment --
it's quite an attraction with several restaurants and bars. But the only
other things in the area, including the big mall, are chain type
restraurants and stores. If you are interested in good food and fun music,
downtown is definitely the place for you, somewhere in the vicinity of
Market Street. It's a long drive back out to Opryland if you've been
drinking :-)
