Doug and Nile are a fountain of knowledge! Thanks guys for such
detailed responses, I appreciate it. And thanks Sarah for the heads
up on Opryland and Market St.
I knew Doug would be replying, because when I did a google groups
search, he "poisoned" the search results with "Nashville" in
his .sig. :) I'm glad he did! :)
We're not bikers, but we usually end up with a fair amount of exercise
on our vacation trips. It's a good thing too because we always eat so
much. :)
I'm still trying to get a feel for the size and layout of the cities.
Along the lines of what Doug said, are most of the attractions within
walking distance of each other, or will we be driving between them?
It sounds like the latter. How about public transportation? Easy and
effective? Does it run frequently enough and stop nearby most tourist
destinations?
I live in Pittsburgh, and our public transportation is slow,
unreliable, and very limited in range. (With this being said, there
are a few very good and popular routes) Most people drive everywhere,
except perhaps around the universities, and PERHAPS downtown. While
our city is pretty small, if you are going from one end of the
downtown to the other, most people would drive, not walk. Big
difference from a New York City or London, for example -- where foot
and subway traffic dominate.
Thanks.
