Dont bother with the East Coast or the Midwest (yuck, I should now, I
live there). Driving on the East Coast is boring and speed limits are
low and strictly enforced.
Fly to the West Coast (LA or San Francisco) and tour the Southwest, the
West, and the Pacific Northwest. You have to see the desert, the Rocky
Mountains, and the Pacific coastal areas. Go into British Columbia if
you have time.
States to see: California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Nevada,
Wyoming, Nevada, Colorado, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington, British
Columbia.
You have to spend a lot of time in a bookstore or library to prepare
your itinerary.
