I do not like the I-85 route, too much congestion. I-81 runs down the
Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and is a beautiful drive...except for the
large amount of large truck traffic. I'm not sure where you pick up I-74.
Do you mean I-77 out of Wytheville to Statesville? The Skyline Drive is
beautiful but slow going. Best I remember the speed limit is 35
MPH...possibly 45. I can only take so much of up one hill and down another
interspersed with winding roads. Same thing for the Blue Ridge Parkway. If
you have plenty of time, it would make for a nice, but tiring, drive. Take
the Skyline Drive or Blue Ridge Parkway for 25 or 30 miles or so and get off
and back on the interstate.

Let me know which route you are going to take and your interests and I will
offer suggestions for stops along the way.

Where are you arriving from?
