I'd call that a feature, not a problem -- Simply mail off a copy of your
printed receipt showing Canadian funds with a letter to reverse the
charges.

Your credit card company will reverse the entire charge.

It is now you who gets to jerk Hotels.ca around to pay them for the .ca
(You still owe them money, but you can certainly play their game for a
while, "Please hold" and hang up, stuff like that, if that suits you)
