With high-speed trains, that would be even more true. Very high speed trains
in Europe have cut deeply into airline business, because they make trips of
less than 1000 km or so faster by train than by plane, and with far, far less
hassle. The trains are also city center to city center, and you just step on
and off, without any waiting, boarding lines, delays, cancellations, or
two-hour commutes between the airport and the city each way.
